In Ethiopia, talking about menstruation is taboo.

As a result, most girls are fearful and unprepared when they start having periods. These girls often miss school, fall behind in their studies, and eventually drop out.

Dignity Period helps Ethiopian girls stay in school by providing the supplies and education they need to manage menstruation.

This means the opportunity for a better life.

We believe girls deserve education, equality, and dignity - period.

We did it! Our fundraising drive in celebration of Freweini's recognition as a Top 10 CNN Hero of the Year raised more than $30,000 in just a week. Let's keep it going!

Your donation has a direct impact

Every $30 donation to Dignity Period provides education and menstrual supplies for 5 girls for 18 months.

Inequality is a global issue

The school dropout rate for girls in Ethiopia is 51%, while only 30% for boys. When our founders came to understand that menstruation is often the cause of the gender

discrepancy in the dropout rate, Dignity Period was born. Our mission is to keep Ethiopian girls in school by ensuring that they have access to quality menstrual hygiene products and education.
