Melissa Barnes

Board Member

Melissa joined the Dignity Period board in 2023. She works at Microsoft Corp. as a Senior Acquisition Strategist and is a member of the Microsoft Give committee. Throughout her 20-year career in Marketing she has worked with brands such as T-mobile, Expedia and Sigue. 

  

Melissa has been a  passionate advocate for positive change, committed to making a difference in her community and particularly for women throughout her life. She brings a diverse background spanning volunteer work, digital marketing, and community engagement. Her diverse volunteer experience includes serving in the United States Peace Corps in Vanuatu from 2002-2004, translating for TED.com, acting as a family mentor for refugees at IRCO, observing as a legal observer for the National Lawyers Guild and phone banking for NARAL.

 

Melissa first learned of Dignity Period as they expanded into the Seattle market in 2023 and was drawn to their mission for dignity for all women and girls that menstruate and excited to help bring that mission to the underserved in her local area and beyond.

 

Melissa lives with her husband and two sons outside of Seattle, where she enjoys local hikes, reading and watching her kids play soccer.
