Shewaye Belay

Project Manager

Shewaye first met Dr. Lewis Wall while working on a research project on obstetric fistula in the Tigray Region. Since learning about Dignity Period from Lewis and his wife, Helen, Shewaye has been dedicated to helping women and girls who lack menstrual hygiene management options.

Shewaye holds an M.Sc. in parasitology and immunology from Addis Ababa University and a B.Ed. in Biology at Mekelle University. He’s contributed to studies on leishmaniosis, controlling bedbugs, obstetric fistula, de-worming, and a number of other public health issues.

Today, Shewaye is Dignity Period's go-to person on the ground.

He has three sons and one daughter. He is passionate about ensuring that young girls stay in school and that boys are educated to support them.
