2022 has been a big year for Dignity Period in so many ways and we want to thank you for being part of it!
With your support and dedication to ending period poverty, Dignity Period has partnered with an ever-growing community of like-minded organizations to distribute over 5000 reusable / washable menstrual hygiene kits to women and girls across the U.S. and in Ethiopia.
With proper care, each DP kit can provide menstrual hygiene coverage for 12 plus months.
This equals more than 60,000 periods and over 1.2 million tampons in the past year.
(the average person uses 20 tampons per cycle. 20 tampons x 12 months x 5000 individuals)
Our collaborative agencies in the U.S. and our partners in Ethiopia are equally dedicated to bringing dignity through the ability for those who menstruate to do so comfortably and confidently.
As many of you know, Ethiopia continues to be plagued by political turmoil. As we close out 2022 there is hope on the horizon. A peace agreement has been signed between the Ethiopian Federal Government and the TPLF, the Tigrayan political party, that promises the restoration of services, reconstruction, and healing. So far, the peace agreement seems to be holding and we are optimistic that there continues to be positive movement. Our team at Mekelle University is safe and remains engaged and dedicated to the mission of Dignity Period. As soon as local conditions warrant, our full programs in Ethiopia will begin again. In the meantime, our steadfast project team continues to distribute pad kits when and where it is safe, reaching those with the greatest of needs in this incredibly trying time.
As we wrap up 2022, we want to extend our deepest appreciation for all those that support our mission and see the importance and value of making sure those that menstruate do so with dignity.
We have big goals in 2023 and we are thrilled to achieve them with you as part of the DP community.
